by Jaye B. Back in the early 1980s I read, Les Chants de Maldoror , penned by one Lautréamont aka Isidore Lucien Ducasse, who died quite young at the age of 24. Most memorable were his depictions of savagery in nature, which is actually an issue right now seeing savagery is endangered, as more and more wild animals are becoming domesticated because of habitat loss (tons of videos on YouTube of fat, lazy, spoiled tigers getting belly rubs). I don’t think I could read Lautréamont‘s work like in my early 20s as some of the stuff is pretty out there dark and consistently so. (IMAO-in my arrogant opinion-many of the decadent French writers were possessed by demons so be careful reading them because those demons will come right back looking for a new home to squat in. Such happened to me when I read the French writer J.K. Huysmans’s infamous

The symbolists proceeded modernity seem pretty decadent to me.. It seems like a foreshadowing of the decline of French culture. Perse Is wholesome, epic.
I read Baudelaire in my early twenties when my nerves weren't shot. It fueled my depression. Decadent writers paved the way for the creepazoids later on in the French Pantheon such as jock daddy da and deluz.
